Ross Hamilton Frew

Residency Period October 2017

Ross Hamilton Frew is a Scottish artist working with drawing, collage, ceramics and assemblage. He often uses predetermined or self- imposed rules in his work and has an interest in geometry, utopias and world-building. Whilst in residence here Frew worked on his project ‘An Island, An Astronomical Object…’, a solo exhibition of new work presented in the Studio Pavilion in March 2018. He developed a series of ceramic works, based metaphorically on the foliage found on Ascension Island, a mid-Atlantic volcanic island with a plethora of invasive plant species which continually fight each other for dominance.

Ross Hamilton Frew has presented work in solo and group exhibitions in the UK and abroad. He lives and works in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.
