Ever wondered how film was edited prior the arrival of the digital age? In this class anyone will be able to become an avant-garde film-maker.

This is a rare opportunity to work with film reel and use your hands and simple tools to create experimental marks, scratches and colourings that will create unique dance of shapes during our end of the workshop screening and discussion.

The workshop will start with an introduction to experimental film-making with short screenings of selected artists to start the imagination working. Then the participants will be given their analogue film reels with an existing filmed material to edit as they please.

Materials, examples and assistance will be provided to create your own unique film edit. At the end of the workshop we will screen each other’s art works and have a short discussion after.

Learning Outcomes:

Experience in setting up analogue film projector
