TUTOR Emer Tumilty
DAY Tuesday & Wednesday 10am – 3pm
DATES 30 & 31 July
AGES 10 – 18
LOCATION Art Studios

In this big, bright and bold workshop, participants will learn about mural design techniques and collaborate with the rest of the group to design a colourful, abstract mural installation.

Within this workshop participants will:

  • gain an insight into the artist’s work and their own approach to mural design
  • generate a body of work through various drawing and cut out exercises, resulting in a set of abstract shapes
  • have the opportunity to design their own mural maquette
  • learn about creative collaboration, and apply these principles to the design of a collaborative mural installation

Your Tutor:
Emer is an artist and illustrator from Northern Ireland, based in Glasgow. With a background in Architecture and Visual Communication, she works across printmaking, murals and environmental design. Recent work includes commissions for Urban Outfitters, Atlantic Records and Warby Parker. She was awarded an ‘Emerging Designer’ residency at Cove Park, which she completed in Summer 2018, and has since become part of the Hands-On Programme there, facilitating art and design workshops for young people. Aside from her commercial work, Emer’s self-directed practice explores collage, painting and screen printing, as seen in her work for ‘New Editions’, a residency and group exhibition at Edinburgh Printmakers in 2017, alongside Poster Club and Museums Press.
