Go big and explore shape and colour through the art of relief printing and screen printing. In this two-day course, children will have the opportunity to explore creative and fun print-making techniques. We will learn how to plan their compositions using the method of collage making and then bring their art to life through the print-making process. The course will provide a good understanding of how print-making works, and the children will develop a series of prints and make a t-shirt. All materials are provided and included in the class costs.
How to plan image compositions through different methods including drawing and collage
Using colour, taking into account colour combinations and the colour wheel
Screen printing techniques including screen preparation and printing using a screen
Relief printing techniques including screen block preparation and printing using a relief block
Printing on different materials including paper and fabric

Bethan Turner studied a bachelor’s in Fine Art and Art History at Newcastle University, relocating for a year to study printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany. She now lives and works as an artist in Glasgow, UK. Bethan is part of print making duo, ‘Up Print’ based at the Glasgow Print Studio and her practice involves various printmaking techniques including screen and mono printing. Her work also expands to sculptural, drawing and installation and she is self- taught in the skills of taxidermy, woodwork and welding for her practice. She is a freelance art tutor and a support worker working with young adults with learning disabilities through sensory art production and she has worked on many community art projects with primary schools.
