1 September – 6 October 2019
TUTOR: Sheena Russell
DAY: Sunday 10am – 1pm
DATES: 1 September – 6 October (6 weeks)
LOCATION: Art Studios
This 6-week course will be perfect for participants as an introduction to or re-entry into drawing and painting. Participants will experiment with a variety of materials such as pencils, charcoal, pastels, pen, ink and paint. Using the wide variety of source material available, including the park, walled garden, the house and sculptures, participants will be inspired to create works of art they can be proud of. This shorter course is designed for those who want to give drawing and painting a try but aren’t ready yet to commit to a longer course.
When the weather permits, classes will take place out on the grounds of the park. When the creation of work is confined to the studio, participants will develop their portraiture and still-life skills. Whether you have some experience, or you haven’t done any drawing or painting since school days, this course is useful for those of you who want to hone existing skills, (re)discover a fascinating past-time, or simply spend two hours a week focused on drawing and painting.
Schedule (This schedule is subject to alterations depending on the needs of the group and weather conditions):
Week 1: Introductions, line & tone with pencil, ellipses
Week 2: Tone with charcoal, introduction to colour with pastels
Week 3: Watercolours
