PRICE: £400 Per Person
The two-week workshop with allow each participating artist or designer to develop strategies in advancing their studio practice. Work will be developed individually. There will be emphasis in building a community invested in sharing and discussing ideas.
Objectives: develop understanding of professional practice, creating a body of work in the studio, group critiques, visual research, developing conceptual enquiry, understanding material interests and appropriateness to practice, presentation and installation ideas, influences, addressing goals and ambitions, current thinking in art and design, considering what makes your practice relevant and contemporary.
Located in the Studio Pavilion, the two-week workshop will enable you to work independently in a professional context with focused discussion and support by Fraser Taylor timed as below.
Monday 7th / 10am – 4pm

Friday 11th / 10am – 4pm
Monday 14th / 10am – 4pm
Wednesday 16th / 10 am – 1pm

Participants must provide their own materials.

Fraser Taylor
Fraser Taylor studied Printed Textiles at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art. He co-founded The Cloth, a creative studio focused on contemporary textile design and production. Since 1983 he has developed an interdisciplinary art practice and exhibited internationally, and his collaborative works includes projects with visual artists, designers, and contemporary dance. As an educator he has lectured at leading fine art and design institutions, and from 2001 until 2017 was a Visiting Artist and Adjunct Full Professor in the Department of Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2017 he was awarded an Honorary Professorship from Glasgow School of Art, University of Glasgow and co-founded The Textile Collective. Taylor has recently been appointed Guest Curator at the Beacon Arts Center in Greenock, Scotland.
