This course is for individuals who already feel comfortable with their cameras and would like to explore a more creative side to digital photography. Participants will explore creative digital photography by experimenting with new techniques; creating abstract images that go beyond the perfect still image. We will be exploring double and multiple exposures, photo collage and montage, how to create the illusion of motion and movement, working with the “imperfect image”, exploring black and white digital photography and creating digital pinhole cameras. Beginners welcome!

Speed Light/external flash (not necessary but bring along if you do have)
Jess Holdengarde is a practicing Artist and Fine Art photographer. She is originally from Cape Town and now living and practicing in Glasgow. She completed her BAFA in Fine Art Photography at The Michaelis School of Fine Art at The University of Cape Town. Jess works predominately in collage and photomontage and is a resident artist at Smith Gallery in South Africa. Jess’s work extends into print, photography, installation, and video. Jess’s current body of work is evidence to her complex navigation of the world as she explores the landscapes of Scotland and South Africa with her medium format camera. Jess has worked as a junior lecturer in the photography department at The University of Cape Town and still returns home to lecture photography at The Cape Town School of Photography.
