This 10-week course introduces students to a range of hand building, molding and finishing techniques suitable to make both complex functional ceramic pieces as well as sculptural objects. Students will explore a range of techniques including pinch pots/coiling, slab building, working with plaster and press molds as well a variety of glazing and finishing techniques. By the end of the course students will have produced a number of pieces in clay and developed their creative and practical skills in this material. Students will also be encouraged to develop their own self-directed projects throughout the course.
Suitable for beginners and refreshers.
Kevin Andrew Morris graduated with BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design in 2010 from The Glasgow School of Art. Since then he has gone on to exhibit his work nationally and internationally as well as work with a range of artists, institutions and work on various public projects. Currently based in Glasgow Morris is often referred to as a ‘Nomadic Ceramicist’ working across Scotland.
