Late Opening Friday 26th, until 8pm. All Welcome.

From the Studio Winter Show with Carole Gibbons and Christian Noelle Charles

From the Studio will showcase new artists to the gallery, Carole Gibbons and Christian Noelle Charles, at their upcoming Winter Show at Studio Pavilion, House for an Art Lover.

Ground-breaking and influential Glasgow-based artist Carole Gibbons will present her most recently completed artwork; an outstanding example of her distinctive style that exists somewhere between abstraction and representation, landscape and still-life; alongside a selection of drawings and paintings from the 1960’s onwards.

Rising star Christian Noelle Charles will show new prints including SELFIE 1 & 2. These works are emblematic of her exploration of female representation and self-expression, and feature recurrent motifs that appear throughout her multi-disciplinary body of work.

Carole Gibbons was born in Glasgow in 1935. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1957 and unlike many artists of that time she chose not to train as a teacher but pursue her own practice. She formed strong friendships with artists Alan Fletcher, Douglas Abercrombie and Alasdair Gray. She exhibited widely and her work is held in public collections including National Galleries Scotland, Glasgow Museums, Edinburgh City Art Centre, Aberdeen Art Gallery. Gibbons continues to work from her home studio in Glasgow.

Glasgow based Christian Noelle Charles works across print, photography, video and performance. Charles completed her MFA at Glasgow School of Art in 2018. A Syracuse, New Yorker, Christian’s work is an exploration of female representation and self-love in a contemporary world. Christian takes inspiration from today’s pop culture, modern performance techniques, and personal experiences. Her work has been shown at various galleries and institutions like CCA and Tramway in Glasgow, Scotland, South London Gallery in London, and the Officine Grandi Riparazioni di Torino in Turin, Italy.

The winter show and shopping event will also feature a group display of new work from artists David James Grinly, Alexa Hare, Fraser Taylor, Beth Shapeero, Catherine Street, Josephine Broekhuizen, Daisy Iles and others. All art work is for sale.
