Esther Donaldson

27 November 2019 – 04 February 2020

Esther Donaldson will present an exhibition of new work in the Art Lovers Café this Winter. Donaldson was awarded the exhibition on the strength of her work presented in the 2018 RSW 137th Open Annual Winter Exhibition.

Park Life is a culmination of almost two years work studying gardens from Morocco to Madeira and Scotland.

In a society that is increasingly restless, and senses over stimulated with numerous devices competing for our attention, gardens are a place to stop and contemplate in peace. Witnessing the rhythms and seasons within the garden are also a stark reminder of our own human condition, reflecting the brevity of life, beauty, toil, energy, death and rebirth that is observed in the cycle of life within the garden.

Esther exhibits and sells work regularly in galleries across Britain, including the RSA, SSA and the RSW and most recently the Royal Society of British Artists, Mall Galleries, London. Her work Autumn Garden II was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2019 and was chosen for the favourites list. She graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1993 with a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting and a Master’s in Design from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee in 1997.

Esther lives and works in Port Seton, Edinburgh.
