Aga Paulina Młyńczak is an artist/curator. She is currently running 16 Nicholson Street Gallery (16NSt) which platforms early career artists. Earlier in her career, she delivered independent group exhibitions in Copenhagen and has taken the leading role in FLING collective that, most notably, carried out the three consecutive shows in Tramway – ‘RELAY’ (2019). She curated a digital exhibition ‘As a Pile of Ash’ by Katerina Sidorova (2020) and ‘Our World The World To Come’ by Siri Black and Kien Denier (2020). Mlynczak’s work was shown at Trongate 103 ‘Still Searching’ (2019), Street Level ‘Open’ (2019), 16NSt ‘Flock Circumstance’ (2021) and ‘Word Turner II’ at KIOSK (2021).
In her art practice, Aga focuses on concepts around the transmedia turn and post-linguistic society. She engages with other social aspects of art making like participatory approaches and the history of consent within photography. Her primary area of research during the Studio Pavilion residency will be in negotiating the dynamic between language, melody and society in a continuation of her ‘Teach me a word you’re afraid to forget’ project. At Studio Pavilion she will complete the buildup of her new sound sculptures which will involve programming, scoring, ceramics and metal work.
